'2 Weeks 2 Make It' film competition
20th May, 2009
2weeks 2make it 2009 has recently concluded with a sold-out awards ceremony at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, after a mad 2 week period that saw 18 bands and 18 filmmakers compete to make the best video in 2weeks, for a grand prize of £1000!
Rob Speranza, the competition organizer and founding member of the South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network, said, 'This is the third year we've run the 2Weeks 2Make It competition and I think its been our most successful run yet, with the quality of the submitted videos getting better every year. Its been a huge success overall, and the addition of a Music Video Industry Day was a massive step in the right direction for this competition. I'm very proud of all the participants who contributed to this great collection of videos we now have on our hands!'
The films will be next used in a Reader's Award sponsored by Sheffield Newspapers, who will then run a full page story about the winning band and filmmaker. The winner of the Grand Prize at the Awards Screening was the band Yo Yo Static and the Shockettes, whose video was made by film team Electric Chaos, fronted by Richard Bolam.
