C&binet
5th June, 2009
C&binet looks like a really interesting project, and proof that the government is taking the creative industries seriously. Let's hope they don't fall victim to bureaucracy, as highlighted today by Melvyn Bragg.
In their own words:
C&binet was created by the UK Government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport to foster international dialogue about the creative economy. The c&binet ambassadors – business leaders from across the creative economy – helped to shape the vision for the first c&binet forum, which will focus on the three fundamental challenges for the creative economy:
- Growth – How we can grow the creative economy share best practice and build business capacity?
- Balance – How do we strike the right balance between the interests of the producer, distributor and consumer?
- Talent – How do we develop, identify, manage and reward creative talent and support creative entrepreneurs?
They are holding a forum this year, addressing the important issue of Intellectual Property in the creative industries. It will be held on 26th-28th October in Hertfordshire. More info can be found on their website.
