Photomarathon

16th April, 2009

Ever felt inspired to take part in a marathon? But when it comes to the thought of running 26 miles you break out into a cold sweat? Well, before you add it to your “bucket list” here’s your opportunity to get your first marathon under your belt and you don’t even need a pair of trainers – just a camera and a little imagination for Photomarathon UK on 20 June in Cardiff.

Photomarathon UK is a photographic competition with a twist. Armed only with a 35mm film camera your challenge is to take 12 photos of 12 given subjects with only a 12 exposure film – just one chance for each shot. Taking place over 12 hours this marathon tests the stamina of your mind rather than your body.

Following the marathon every entrants work is processed and presented in a free public exhibition at Cardiff Old Library from 25 July – 9 August. Participants work will also be judged by a panel of leading photography experts who will select winners that will be announced at a private viewing.

Betina Skovbro, Photomarathon Director says "We're delighted to be bringing Photomarathon back to Cardiff in 2009. We took a year off in 2008 to recharge the batteries and are really looking forward to another successful event this year. It's a great day out, as well as a fantastic opportunity to see your work as part of a unique exhibition of several thousand images. Cardiff is the perfect city to host Photomarathon, and with so much going on throughout the summer, Photomarathon entrants will have plenty of scope to capture their own slice of life in the capital city."
