Ignite Cardiff #2

Ignite Cardiff #2

20th January, 2009

Nocci and Cardiff Web Scene return to bring you the second ever Ignite event in the UK.

If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only had 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds?

Around the world, creatives, web enthusiasts and entrepreneurs have been putting together free Ignite nights in answer to this question and Cardiff Web Scene and Nocci brought the very first Ignite to the UK back in December (see "Gallery" link for pics).

And they're now looking for passionate people to speak at the next event on 8th April at the Sodabar on Mill Lane.

More info:

Ignite was started in Seattle in 2006 by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Since then hundreds of 5 minute talks have been given across the world. There are thriving Ignite communities in Seattle, Portland, Paris, and NYC and it is an internationally recognised format for producing dynamic, high energy and engaging presentations, with topics as wide ranging as "How to produce a low-budget horror movie", "Did today's architecture cause the financial crisis" and "How to use public transport without going mad".

Ignite Cardiff #2 is being held on Wednesday 8th April at Sodabar in Cardiff City Centre, and will start at 6:30pm. Entry is FREE and you don't need a ticket to attend. But if you're on Facebook then add yourself to the guestlist on Facebook (includes video and photos of last event) or at Cardiff Web Scene (which has some more photos).

But more importantly if you'd like to deliver one of the entertaining talks then let us know. The format is simple: come up with a subject that you're passionate about, it can be on any topic (it doesn't have to be creative, cultural or web related), it can be serious or fun - the only rule is that you can't talk about yourself, your company or one of your projects. Then drop us an email via the Contact page if you want to sign up.  If you are selected you'll be sent the Ignite PowerPoint template.  Presentations should be 20 slides in total with each slide lasting 15 seconds.

It's not a contest, it's just for fun, but don't miss your chance to take part.  All applications need to be received by Monday 2nd March and the selected speakers will be notified by Monday 9th March.  Final presentations need to be submitted by Monday 6th April.  It's free to enter so what have you got to lose?!
